As we know with teenagers if you dont ask them the right questions you dont get the right answers, I call this `the Sir Humphrey Appleby syndrome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humphrey_Appleby)` ... My daughter Danielle was sitting eating an ice cream and managing to fire off about a million phone text etc so I thought it was time to get ahead in the psychological department and said to her ` I know when you are telling porky pies and being economical with the truth` I did'nt give her time to think of a reply and continued with ` you see when you lie and are trying to make things up you look to the left while if you are trying to recall actual truthful facts you look to the right` (I watch way to much CSI lol) ... Danielle's cogs started turning over in her mind and she come back with `And what if I look straight ahead` without hesiatation and without blinking I said "It means I hav'nt asked you any awkward questions yet" http://www.team-ninja.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/biggrin.gif ..... and so the battle continues http://www.team-ninja.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/wink.gif

I've always wanted to have a daughter :(
I've loved my little sister since the day she was born. I can't imagine what it must be like to have a daughter of your own grow from that cute little girl you would dress up into a full blown mature woman who now tells you how to cook.

I have a mate who has spent a few years taking tourist groups out on a tallship through the whitsunday passage. For an Aussie, he can pull off the most amazing accents.. He can do different cockney variations as found througout the UK and even his American is amazing. Damm its funny to listen to him having a simulated argument with himself with multiple accents.

Cockney is only East London, well within the sound of the Bow Bells actually.

Cockneys!
The Bow bells are important to the traditions of London and it is said that to be a true cockney you must be born within hearing distance of the sound Bow bells. Based on this fact there were no Cockneys born between 11th May 1941 (when the bells were destroyed in a World War II German air raid) and 21st December 1961 (when the Bells rung for the first time after 20 years of restoration work).

I am for what it is worth a true cockney lol

Whenever I was in London I stayed on Old street Hackney (READ: 'ackney') / Islington area which is well into the cockney speaking area. There was a bartender at this place across from the Truman Brewery in the East End whose name escapes me who wrote an awesome phrase book not unlike those sites.

Reminds me of the subtitled story telling scene in Lock Stock LOL.

The Dubliners have some pretty good and pretty funny slang as well which I guess is cockney inspired.
