Hi Bill.
Keep Ghost and don't think about PQDI.
Take care......
PS.........Microsoft uses only Ghost, because it is the best for imaging, both in ease and reliability.

That's true, I use it to image all of our corp machines at work, but all he asked was to make a bootable cd...I like Nero for that myself...very easy to use.:D

Dude, Thanks for the link. now all I have to do is see if I can get it to work. I like to be able to image right to the cd burner and then just update the cd-rw every now and then. Is this possable

Yes, but I have not used ghost for that...just to image one drive to another.
When you use the term "image"...do you mean create an iso image file or just copy or burn stuff to a cd?
What software came with your burner? Nero is great for creating iso files, very easy.
Do you just want to store stuff on cd or create a restore cd? Not sure how to use ghost to create a bootable restore image file type cd.
Sorry but I'm not real clear on what you need to do.

Hi Bill,
If you use Roxio Easy CD Burner software Version 4.02 or above(Used to be Adaptec Easy CD Burner software), you can make your CD bootable.
This is what I use and it never fails to work.
Your best bet is to make an image of your drive, and not mess with .iso files.
I also recommend that you use a CD-RW disk, and you can rewrite on it several times. Actually have a couple. One for the current image, and use the next for the next image, etc. That way, you will always have a curent image of your drive. Then rotate disks and you are fine.
Take care...

Hay guys, Nero came with the burner, and lee thats just what I want to do. Now I got XP just the way I like it but I do not have the space on the drive for the image so can I burn a image right to the CD? If not I got a spare drive I can use to store the image then burn it to the CD. So if I use CD-RW can I just update the files that change or are new without imageing the hole drive over
Thanks for the help

Hi Bill,
You have the choice to update all files or just the changed ones.
That is the nice thing about the CD-RW disk, you can write to it many times.
I got in the habit of just making a new image file each time, but, that is what I choose to do.
I really don't remember if the option is there to burn directly to the cd or not. I think it is, but I may be confused with PQDI.
Anyway, if it is there you can save the step of burning to the H/D, and then to the cd.
Take care, and let us know how it goes..........
PS........I forgot to ask, do you have Easy CD Burner software?

I think with Nero..you can chose to either burn to hard drive, then cd or straight to cd. I will check, but the rig I have it on is folding with no keyboard or mouse right now and I am ready to crash for the night...I'll double check tomorrow and post.:D

Hi The Dude,
Remember he wants to have the CD self booting, and Nero does not have that function.
Take care........

Yeah you're right, he would have to use a boot floppy and from dos type nrestore...then select his cdrom drive. Nero gives you the choice to backup entire hard drive or select individual partitions. I've used ezcd and it works great, but don't know if he has it?
Thanks
