So it was finally time for me to try to get my paws on some OCZ PC4800 Platinum Elite Edition. I saw it on Newegg one day last week, and the next day the squ was gone. I talked to a rep and he told me it was discontinued. I found a store in Canada that had it and ordered it from them. And today, I see they have the same RAM in Newegg, but named differently. The model number is the same as the Elite Editions, they just named the ram without actually putting the term "Elite Edition" in it. I could have saved myself the hassle of ordering it from canada

I too share your irritation. Newegg has changed names and prices on some products on me in the past. When I was looking for a vid card, they had a nice 6800 for 150ish...about a week later I decided to get it, but it wasn't there any longer... a little searching on my part found it about 2 days later for 210.00 but with a different (slightly) name...I don't shop at newegg unless I absolutly ahve too....ZipZoomFly, however, owns me...

is it me or does Newegg never seem to have stock of the exact products I want anymore anyway?
ZipZoom is good :)

TigerDirect LOL
I worked there, I still know people that work there, and I wouldn't even send my worst enemy there.
By the way, I've ordered from the Egg since this little incident, and had no worries. Everything arrived on time.
