NM is a site that years ago started to deviate.
a handfull of members from there got together and gave birth to LiquidNinjas so that we all can learn and share from the hardware forums without too much distraction (ads, banners, popups) and to also provide and nurture a more communal setting, kinda like the waiting room for expectant fathers in the hospital. everyone is welcome, you are treated like family and someone allways runs for coffee.

this is my point of view, perhaps one of the founding fathers here will give their .02

Ninjamicros as was has a few splits `so to speak` .... these days the remnants are at http://www.ninjamicros.com/ although the majority stayed and formed www.team-ninja.com (http://www.team-ninja.com) .... They are in my opinion a a pale imitation of the original ... Other off-shoots were http://www.teampicard.net/ and even www.pclincs.co.uk (http://www.pclincs.co.uk) there maybe others ... The best of course is LN and PCLincs

whats ninjasMicros?

As synth said, it was a site that was fairly similar to what LN is now. But then a few things changed and other sites appeared as a result. They became well known due to the NinjaMicros GFD device that allowed easier overclocking of SlotA Athlons.

I used to go on NM alot before it changed.. I learned alot there when I was trying to overclock my k6-2 366mhz and my 800Mhz SlotA Athlon (both of which are still going strong!!) and is where I came across alot of the guys on this site too!

www.gamingchatter.com was another website that was formed because of differences with ninjamicros(team-ninja) management.

Boy I remember the first time I went to ninjamicros and talked with fluke about my Slot A overclock.

If I am not mistaking and Player0 and a bunch over here tried to buy ninjamicros from Fluke and when that didn't happen this site came around.

Splits happen on every site, I hope it doesnt happen to LN but I think we're too small for that to happen, plus keeping a wide variety of admins seems to help. But, it might happen here someday, who knows, you tell me! :)

Im not 100% sure LN was ever a true 'split'. NinjaMicros simply went away. Yeah, I (and a couple others) tried buying it from Fluke as soon as I found out it was for sale, and the only responce I got back was that it had already been sold.

NM went away, but most of the guys came to LN which was nice. We, at the time, wanted to focus more on reviews and watercooling, more advanced topics, but maintain the pleasant attitude that made NM great which many other tech boards lack.

The actual NinjaMicros name/site went to another site that had almost nothing to do with NinjaMicros, and was simply a very different place. LN tried to get the Team Picard guys but they went their own direction so... its all ancient history :)

I havent been to the current NM site in a very long time so I cant say whats good or not good about it. Its just a different site and they have their own member base.

I think I stumbled apon LN within its first few weeks. I never noticed it was a new site because there was a bunch of ppl who all seemed to be old friends on here. :D

NM is where i started my web based life. First forum i ever registered on and sure did learn alot. Followed Tom and the others here, its been my 2nd home. Sure i've drifted away, but LN has always remained my homepage!
