Hey, hows the beer going Drake? My mate and I just robbed the bees for a nice 20Kg worth. At least 6 of those will be going down in brews as we speak.

My professional (if you could call it that) mead brew went sour on me and Johnous. Even though we followed the instructions on the packet the Kmeta and sorbates didn't stop the fermentation. The plum/cherry melomel was quite tasty (albeit 40 proof) and by the time the yeasties had their way with it, it was too much a punch in the throat to be enjoyable. Same with the citrus melomel, which I would have *loved* to use in some sort of chicken dish.

Over all I really enjoyed and learned a lot from the experience, but at $18/gallon that was a heavy hit in the pocketbook for someone as unemployed as myself.

I got a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas and made 2 gallons with it, so far. My uncle who had been stationed in Germany for a few years after the first Gulf War was quite pleased with it, as were my parents. I don't quite trust their opinion, as they've been drinking Bud/Coors all their lives!

After the last 20oz bottle gets drained (one way or another  ) I have some ginger beer extract. Not at all alcoholic, but should be damn tasty.

If you've a taste for alcohol and have $200 burning a hole in your pocket, homebrewing is a very viable hobby. Putting 'hobby zymurgist' on an application doesn't look all that shabby, either :P
