I was a little bored so I figured I'd pass by the Mitsu dealership today :D My 14 year old brother certainly enjoyed it ;)

I pulled up and started checking out the EVOs outside. Gotta make it look like I was actually interested in a car ;) My excuse to the salesman for not taking it home today was "Well, I'm considering this, an STi, or a slightly used 540i 6 speed"

Took it for a nice drive on some back roads doing close to 80mph. I was actually impressed with this little booger. It felt almost as stable as my RX-7. for a family car, it truly felt as if you were driving on rails. Turbo lag wasn't as bad as I've seen some people make it out to be. Nothing a little downshifting can't remedy. It's hard to say it felt fast considering how fast my RX-7 is, but it definetly had some humph to it, and I surely wouldn't mind having one for a daily driver. The Recaros made me feel like I was being completly hugged, and the Momo steering wheel felt just right. I should have worn my racing gloves, but I didn't want to scare the salesman LOL.

I'm almost tempted to go to a Subaru dealer tomorrow to truly compare it to an STi :D

Its the only way to be sure :D:D:D

I love a good testdrive. I helped my last GF find a mint condition Lotus Mk1 escort, whilst driving it one day, I happened upon the Lotus dealership, and after the staff had finished drooling on the esky, I got to sample the elise, then through luck and fast talking, I tried on a nice jet black Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo. I am really short, and I still touched the ceiling with my head. It was made for me I'm quite sure ;) :D I don't think I would get any testdrives at the moment, the van is wearing racing grey, and the cage is a bit of a giveaway.

Take the trip to the scooby dealer. I've been in both an I think the STi is a better total package...... if only they'd have a wing delete option.

Plus I think the STi has a much more linear powerband. If the car's not equiped with a boost gauge at times I'm hard pressed to tell when I'm on boost.

Don't worry guys, I'm planing to get bored this weekend again and will probably take a trip to the Scooby dealer. :D

The Evo was probably the best sticking & best handling 4 door car I have ever driven in my life. I just looked up its skidpad numbers, and now I know why it felt so close to the RX-7. Average skidpad Gs is between .94-.95. My rexy's stock skidpad was between .98-.99. (rexy with crap stock Expedia S0-7 tires)

Hmm...Another quick search revealed the skidpad on the STi to be around .90. The Slalom seems to be the same on the Evo and the STi AND the RX-7 (about 70mph). Then again, I've never bothered to test the RX-7 with newer shoes ;) Weight seems to be about the same on the STi and Evo...about 3200lbs. Stock, my 7 weighed about 2800lbs. Hey, I gotta compare these 2 cars to SOMETHING, right? ;)

Turbo lag, I'd say, was hardly noticable. Although there is that slight moment after a hard shift, it's nothing to really complain about. The average Joe would never know the differance. Hey wait, we aint the average Joes :)

Funny thing is, I'm not in a position to buy a car LOL :D These 2 cars are exactly what I've wanted in a daily driver. A 4 door car with balls and back breaking steering response, and I've always wondered how these 2 felt & compared.

One things for sure, the scooby gets extra points for exhaust tone :)

IF you can't afford the Suby, then you should definitely test drive the Audi :) then you won't feel so bad lol. I still like the sti wagon, very user friendly.

The wagon I've always wanted was the RS4. But amerika isn't exactly the car guy's paradise

A4 wagon or Biturbo Allroad are my current 'realistic' dreamcars.
Although in price that 1979 930 is more likely to end up in my possession before either of the audis.

Big thumbs up on the 930, Rwd chaos :D:D They were weapons grade when they were new, but with a few modern turbo enhancements, hmmm. oops, almost drooled on the forum again.

I know I'm aimin for a flamin here, but in the wagon stakes.... I think volvo make some rather serious sleepers. I've been a fan ever since they took out the Pommy 2L super tourers with a wagon. there are a few turbo 4x4 wagons that sit nice and low from the factory, and look mean.
