Hey guys,
Trying to help my mom and dad find a new bigscreen and amazon seems to have the best prices. I just think its odd how some prices are so low!

Like the pic below, $850 for a Samsung 56" DLP Rear projection LCD TV? The thing retails for $4800! Has anyone ever bought anything like that or am i missing something here? Help would be great as my parents need a new tv asap, they are dying with my old 27". (They had a 55" but a busted water line trashed it, good thing they have insurance)

$850 for a $4800 tv doesn't add up to me, if it looks too good to be true it usually is.

I wouldn't have a problem buying it from Amazon.com, I would have a problem buying it from a new seller with no stars.

Wacky,
Thats what I was thinking, but all the tv's are almost like that. I also looked at the stats after i noticed that, i guess we'll keep looking. 2k is the budget so..

Remember that the use part of Amazon is sort of like buying it on ebay. If the deal is too good to be true, it is.

I use the used section on ebay a lot for older books and games, ive had good luck with it. I wouldnt spend that much tho. $2000 is a good price for a new tv. Your best bet is to watch the retail stores for floor models or good sales.

PS - Superbowl season is NOT the best time for TVs. Can you wait until spring summer? Just get a little one till then?

Here is a site that has a few (3) retail stores around the Washington DC Area. They have prices that are usually at least 10% below what Best Buy or Circuit City or any other retailer around. And I believe they will ship anywhere in the US.

Yeah what Player0 said. I once bought a TV in Jan. In March the price dropped $500 and a few months after that it dropped another $500. If they can hold out until March or so they may be able to find a real good deal on last years models that they didn't sell before the Superbowl.
