Just wanted to clarify... I have HL2 installed on my laptop at the moment. If I install it on my desktop (both different Broadband connections/IP's) will that appear to them as if I have copied the game, and get banned from steam? Dont really wanna risk it if it does!

:)

As long as you don't try running both at the same time you'll have no problems :)

yeah, I dont think its worth the risk.. My laptop tends to connect randomly to the internet whenever it finds a wireless network and my home pc seems to do whatever it wants when i'm not in the house, so i couldnt guarantee that they wouldnt be online at the same time... ah well, never mind! Thanks tho! :)

I think you misunderstood, as long as Steam/Half-life isn't running on both machines at the same time you'll be fine. All you need to do is make sure you have steam set to NOT load on startup, as most sane people would do, so then you'll have no worries as it won't start unless you tell it to ;)

If you dont know how to set it up to not start on start-up then, go to "run" > "msconfig" > then start up and take off steam.

Or run steam and go into it's SETTINGS --> INTERFACE and there's a little tick box to stop it from loading when Windows starts ;)

actually it doesnt matter if u have it running on either computer at the same time. i played half life 2 at the same time as my friend did on his account and nothing happend ( the account actually wasnt his either it was his friends so 3 people on the same account). no i have my own so this doesnt matter.

also if u didnt know this already you can lan the same id but you cant use the same one on the internet.
