Sounds like some Aliens movie lol. Anyway, am stripping down my large tec heat exchanger, which isn't much more than two large aluminum waterblocks that sandwich together.

Anyway, upon draining the cooling fluid, I notice a large quantity of this mold/algea type stuff come out, in like goopy sheets. Gross. There is some sort of biological stuff in my system which LOVES cold water and darkness. It doesnt grow on the hot water side, and grows mostly in dark, not the light areas. Weird stuff.

So, I need to use more antifreeze to prevent growth. I used my tap water faucet to flush out the blocks, and I also soaked the insides with Lime Away, a very acidic stuff which is good for dissolving mineral deposits, cleans up waterblocks great, just dont get it on your skin or eyes.

Im not sure this cleaned the waterblocks completely. I dont have enough water pressure to really flush these out. Are there other chemicals I can try which is good at cleaning out biological stuff? Im sure the lime away wasnt good for it, but maybe something else will help?

Soon going to have close to 1500w (you heard me right, 1500w) of heat transfering through these blocks, so it is important that they are in tip top running shape.

There is muratic(sp) acid sold at home depot that my brother uses to clean off werckage he pulls off the bottom of the ocean. It takes off barncales and stuff but I don't know how it would react to aluminum.

add a little sodium hyplochlorite (bleach), thats the normal favourite to kill, breakdown & remove. Antifreeze & purple ice has done the job for me though (to date) + i use super super pure demin water which may contribute :)
