Microsoft has released (http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1750395,00.asp) some critical Patches for Windows, but sadly a patch for a well known IE flaw is still absent. The patch Microsoft released addresses a critical hole in the HTML Help ActiveX control. The 2nd patch Microsoft released is a fix for a remote code execution vulnerability in Cursor and Icon Format Handling. Microsoft has also released a virus removal tool that will be updated monthly to remove well known viruses.
As expected, Microsoft also released a malicious software removal tool to zap 10 of the most well-known viruses and worms. The worm zapper, available for download here (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=890830), has been programmed to detect and delete the Blaster, Sasser, MyDoom, DoomJuice, Zindos, Berweb/Download.Ject, Gailbot and Nachi viruses.
