Thermaltake Technology has unveiled a new full-tower aluminum chassis for desktops and servers, the VA9000 SWA, which while in the ATX form factor can be converted for full compatibility with Intel’s proposed BTX (Balanced Technology Extended) form factor, according to Thermaltake product manager Jerry Lee.

The VA9000 SWA, the first model in Thermaltake’s Kandalf series of cases and chassis, boasts a total of seven expansion slots and 11 5.25-inch drive bays, Lee said.

The chassis can be used with ATX, Micro-ATX and Extended-ATX motherboards. With the upgrade kits that come included, the case can be converted to a BTX form factor chassis, Lee explained.

The chassis uses air-cooling systems to dissipate heat from the front and rear sections but optionally supports water-based cooling systems, said Lee.
