How do you all save up work units to post as a big update, stomping as you guys put it. Just curious in case I ever do get some multiple machines running it. Also, any plugins or cool proggies you would recommend to go along with this.

Thanks all,
Gabe

Hi Gabe,

As Fara mentioned, download Seti Driver.
It is recommended that the Seti Driver and directory be placed on a drive that does not have the operating system on it. This is because of backups and/or imaging of the files on your C: drive. If you backup or image the SETI directory, and need to restore the drive back, you have lost any data and units that was stored for tranmission. Double click on the SETIDriver.exe file. This opens the program. The SETIDriver window appears. There are a couple of parameters that need to be filled in. First change the Maximum Processes number from 0 to 1. Next change the Desired Cache Size from 0 to a minimum of 10. It is best to have a weeks worth of units to process, in case that SETI at Berkeley has a server crash or you are unable to connect, for what ever reason. Check the Hide Processing box, as this will hide the processing window. If you have cable, T1, or DSL, check the Auto Transmit box. This way, processed units will automatically transmit when completed. If you prefer to cache completed units for a big dump, then do not check this box. If you have modem, do not check this box, Manually connect your modem when you wish to transmit. If you want to watch the transmission of the completed units, then check the Display Transmit box. Set the SETI Client Priority to Low. After all has been completed, click the Save Config box. You are now ready to click the Transmit button. After clicking the Transmit button, a box will appear and you will be presented with two options: (1) If you are a new user, and do not have an existing account, you will use option 1. Type in your email address. (2) If you have an existing account, use option 2. This is for setting up a new system, when you already have an existing account. You should now be able to start processing units for SETI. Depending on your CPU it may take from 2 or 3 hours a unit, to 30 or more hours a unit.

That was an excerpt from my SETI FAQ section on the Home page. It should help with the SETI Driver install.

Take care and let us know if you need any more info........

You guys rock! Definitely having fun with all of this, now I just have to get rich so I can build more machines to crunch on.

Thanks again,
Gabe

when you get several machines up and running, give seitqueue a try, its a hole nother ball game, but when you have 5 -10 computers, caching / dumping is much more managable
