HELP ME!!!! Xmas money needs to be spent

I just got lots of money lots :thumbsup: and I am looking into getting a X800XT(AGP) maybe PE but I was thinking just get the XT and OC it to the PE clocks since that is all I need to do. But here is where I need the help, What Brand do I get, which one will OC the best, which one will get me the best Scores on 3dmarks, and so on and on? THANKS AND MARRY CHRISTMAS :D

Ripley, chill a little - at the end of your first post, you did actually write that you wanted us to "Marry Christmas". :) ;) There is room on this forum for a bit of joking around and friendly banter, outside of the straight down the line answers. Thats what makes this a good, fun forum to be a part of! :)

Anyway - congrats on being able to afford a new vid card. I'm sure both will do you well, whichever one you choose! I cant advise you on specific brands, but something to condisder is that, yes, the XT may be able to OC to PE speeds, but how much further could you get the PE?! :D :devil5:

To reiterate what DC said chill a little please, LN is the great place it isbecause we aren't all stick up idiots who don't allow any kind of fun to go on. I'm sure dlobue was joking ... hell I found it funny :)

On to your question, for fear of being flamed for not mentioning it :P LOL, I would go for the PE. As DC also said, yeah you can o/c the XT to PE speeds most likely ... but what about taking the PE above and beyond what it can already do ;) Brand wise it all comes down to brand loyalty and the package you get with the card because really all are about the same when it comes to o/c potential, if anything there may be a few mhz difference between the lot of them. So pick one within your price range, from a brand you know and trust and one that has the best bundle with it ... or hell just pick the cheapest LOL

Out of those two I would take the ATI one. I've not heard much about Xtasy although they've been in the game for a while now, but I'd stick to a brand I know.

As for any cheaper deals I don't know, I live in the UK so only browse UK sites when shopping for goods so you'll have to see if anyone else pops up with some better prices for you.

you think the Xtasy is better then the ATi built one, k , and yeah I have been to pricewatch.com but i hate finding things on there and it is very hard and boring site to navegate so, plus I like to go to the store and pick it up instead of online, but I do do alot of online.

I agree that flamming can be a problem on boards....but I'm not sure i have EVER seen anyone get all out flammed on LN, thats why i love to post here. Sure, people will joke around with each other, thats just the good nature of these boards as opposed to all the other boards you seem to be talking about. So ripley, try not to lump LN into that category ;)

Flamming is uncool to me period, but I too have done it out of anger, regretted it later. People dont always realise that "sarcasm" is the instigator of ill feelings in most cases, and I bet he took the joke to heart, not knowing D's a jokester, and was probably having one of those "I feel great, and I'm in a jolly mood!" days like the rest of us who werent, wished we were.


I thought it was pretty hilarious myself, but obviously he wants to be utterly serious about getting a deffinative answere, hold the frills...lol

I think people are like me, and moods change according to stress levels. And then we tend to take it out on other people, and not even realise it sometimes by giving sharp answeres, or replies to posts that have "your stupid and beneath me" writen between the lines. That wasnt the case here at all though, he just didnt catch it.

I havent seen much of that here, and I hope never to see it again anywhere. To me, its the mark of ignorence when its done in "that" particular maner, no matter who says it. When its a joke, and the person "states specifically" they were joking, its time to put the heated emotions away.

Besides, it serves no purpose to reply to people who flame because its almost a sure bet they arent mature enough mentally to know better to start with, and arent going to learn in a 30 minute banter over the internet.

Thx and I hope so I have heard good things about Sapphire but this is my first card that is not ATI BUILT. I have never owned anything other than a ATI powered and Built. I am really wondering what I can OC this card to because it is suppoosed to be OC to the TOP :thumbsup:

It'll be interesting to find out, but in the meantime, I'd be looking at other peoples computers configured as close to yours as possible, and duplicate what they used if the overclocks suit you.

No matter what cooling you use, you can always go to FutureMark and check other peoples results to see whats average for that type cooling, and base your starting point on that.
