I read the review and I was wondering if you checked to make sure that the swiftech block wasn't coming in contact with the socket cam hump or lever due to the lack of the thick heat spreader. This might explain the poor results. Otherwise I though the review was very good

FLB,
Thanks for the kind words. I thought that the cam/socket was causing the problems myself. When I removed the block I had a perfect impression of the core in AS3 on the block. To me that was enough evidence that it was making good contact.

You mentioned in the review that you liked the 6002 better because of the mounting system. It doesn't look like it would be too hard to modify the TDX so it mounts the same way. Since you like TDX's looks and since it performed about 5C better, maybe you should give it a try. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if DD comes out with a similar mounting system for the AMD64 in the near future.

I like the blue block better, ...It's pretty:)
lol, nice job wes, (took ya long enough;))
did you use AS3? it takes a couple of days for best results if i remember, i dont recall what t/compound you used is why i'm askin.

so you gonna build a second A64? you got an extra block now:)

Synth,
Yep I used AS3 on both. If anything the AS3 wouldn't of been settled on the TDX as it only lasted a day before it killed my R9800Pro :(

The orignial A64 system is gone now, so I have 2 spare waterblocks! :)

Is the 9800pro completely dead, or is it just giving alot of artifacts? I found that using a can of compressed air worked really well for removing water that was trapped in tiny gaps between the chips and the pcb. Otherwise it would take about a week or more to dry out naturally.

Well it survived the first attack while the system wasn't running and died on the 2nd attack. I'm almost positive its dead now. The system was on when it leaked :(

I'll throw a pic up of it tomorrow.

Well a few people pointed out something wrong. I never factored in the change of Ambient when I was finishing the review. Therefore the actual diffrences was only 3.1 C between the two blocks. NOT 6c as the review originally stated.

The review has been edited to show the right numbers. I am very sorry for not noticing it on my own and Thank everyone that has pointed it out.

Wes your math is wrong or I have been smoking too much crack ;) You state the diff in ambient is 3.1C in favor of the RBX; 6 - 3.1 = 2.9

lol... must be the crack i've been smoking also.

2.9c in favor of the TDX ;)

It says closer to 3c in the review.

The water temp difference at 1 hour load was only 1.2C difference which means the air temp around the cpu is only about 1.2c difference. Water temp is a far better reference point than ambient air temp measured somewhere in the room.
The problem with the review was that the block was hung up on the cam even though the TIM joint appeared ok. Since you no longer have the MB, you can't verify this but according to Bill Adams it does indeed touch the cam. Unfortunately, this means that all your hard work has gone to waste
