I just got an unexpected phonecall that led to me buying a replica Mk1 RS2000. 1972 Ford Escort. I love these cars, they have plenty of shape, classic 70's lines. I think they can be made to look tough and pretty at the same time with the right wheels etc.
I know this one, I helped my GF's cousin buy it a year ago, It was a bit too much car for the youngster, he ended up getting over the weekly carby retune and put a stock 2L donk back into it. Now that he is onto more practical modes of transport, I am going to snap this little weapon up. :cool2:
So it comes running a stock 2L with a celica 5spd trans, and LSD diff. plenty of suspension work done. Volvo 4 spots on BMW vented rotors up front, Lotus dash and front guards and bumpers. The spares package includes a fully worked 2.1L donk with stage 3 cam and plenty of choice goodies inside.
When I test drove it a bit over a year ago, it was truly weapons grade stuff. An easy 13 something down the 1/4 mile in street trim. I just can't describe how well these things handle when set up right. On rails into corners then optional slide on throttle for exit. I'm 1/2 tempted to just set it up for drift and get a trailer for it.
Luckily I can't afford to register it, so I won't be a menace to society.....yet.
I have some pics, theyre not much, and they show that someone painted the doors seperately :( but a respray is in order. Plus I love engine bay detailing, so it wont look like this under the hood for long.
