USB Headset/Ventrillo/Gaming

Hey guys, I am looking for a good gaming headset and the Logitech USB 300 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=103,CONTENTID=6337) sounds awesome and looks great. But i'm unfamiliar with how the drivers work. I want the headset for gaming so i can talk on a ventrillo server with my friends in game over the headset and hear them on the headset but hear the game sounds through my 5.1 surround. Do the drivers take care of this? or will i be forced to get all my sound through this headset when i use it?

Im using my usb headset from my PS2 for when I use Teamspeak in EQ2. I get the game sound though my 5.1 and TS with the headset np.
