Thats my cable modem at home. Its NOT that fast. I get 1900kbps max here.

1400kbps-ish max on the full T1 at work.

Check out the tests at dslreports.com, they are much more accurate.

Curse you cable guys ;)

I still perfer my DSL. The Cable goes down too often around here. I'll take more uptime over wicked fast downloads.

Farabomb

Also a little birdy told me that the cable companys are thinking of charging pre use of bandwith. No more flat rate. You get charged for what you use. That wouldn't make me too happy. But again, It's just a rumor.

Broadband is pretty cut-throat at the moment, unless your in remote areas. I dont think that rates will start going up anytime soon, in general.

I had real problems with cable modem when it was first installed. I had the cable guys come 3 different times, replacing cable, splitters, etc. Finally, they got it stable. It hasn't gone down since. DSL was always stable too, but slow. Now I have both types here.

Hi Trip,

You caught me: "T1 is rated 1.53mbps... test is bad lol
or is it T3"

Actually we run a OC192 multiple (9.9 Gigabits per second. Of course there are over 50,000 people on it.)

"waita minute you work for microsoft right?"
Yep, caught me again....... :D

Damn, I can't get away with anything.

alright... little update.

I think I've been hooked up about a week now. All of a sudden I notice the cable status light is solid red. I've never seen this before... so I looked it up in yee 'ol user manuel. This indicates "Downstream channel locked". I am scratching my head as to what this means... ran a few yahoo searches and couldn't figure it out. Is this good or bad or what? It is still operating fine... no problems at all. Bandwidth tests still turn out the same. I am scared to reset it to see if the light goes out.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
