since i am thinking of getting rid of my aging AiW 9600 due to techniqual dificulties, i am in the makret for a new card. i want one that has dual dvi ports and is under or around $400. please help me. i was thinking about the 6800 but i am not sure if i am ready to finally give in and buy my first nvidia card. i have always been a ATI kind of guy

It's a great card...

Both companies make good cards.

i was looking at the x800 since it is doing a little better in most benchmarks but it lacks dual dvi connectors which is important to me. anyone have any of the ati workstation cards. they are expensive and i am not sure how good they are at gaming but they have almost everything i want. but then again so does the 6800

for the money vs. what you want i say get the 6800...
the work station cards are bling bling.

No one has what, PCI Express or the ATI card?
The card should be coming out in the begining of the year and there are PCI Express motherboards everywhere now.

Technology sucks LOL
You can't enjoy something without worrying that something will replace it within a 1/4 of a year!

no ne has pci express. i know there will be alot of pci e mtherboards out but i dont feel the need to do a full system upgrade just for a video card.

Psst...

Yes they do. There ARE a lot of PCI Express motherboards out.

But I don't blame you for not buying yet. I'm not either.

You should definitely check out the Gainward Golden Sample 6800 GT. It is one of the only 6800 GTs that comes with dual DVI, plus, it has one of, if not THE best non-reference copper coolers on it. If that didn't sell you, I believe it comes overclocked, and Gainward even includes some kind of guarantee with it that your card will overclock to 6800 Ultra speeds or you get a refund: guaranteeing a 50mhz overclock to the core and 100mhz to the memory is nothing to scoff at. This card seems like it would be just right for you. And I can tell you from my own card's experience that the performance will NOT disappoint!

Newegg sells it for $429. They are out right now and I would check back often because those cards are HOT right now!

If you wanna save money and want something better than your old 9600.. take a look @ this:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-150-080&depa=0

Check reviews on web, it performs > 9800PRO & = 6800NU and it comes with Dual DVI :D

I just think buying 6800GT or X800 is waste of money...get 6600GT now and save for a Future PCI-E card.

i was talking about the first one. we posted at about the same time. i really dont see it as a waste of money. a pentium 4 extreme editions is what i consider a waste of money
