Hey all,

I have XP SP1 v.1089 rumor has it that it will be the RC1. If anyone wants it I can give them my FTP link, just pm me and I will send the link, I don't want to just post it here cause I don't want the server to get hammered. I have tried all Betas so far and they keep getting better. So give it a whirl.

how big is it to download?

It weighs in at 128mb, so it is no small download. I am still in the process of uploading it to my FTP

Interesting that it is so small.

Here at Microsoft, the XP SP1 1089 Pro is 676 Megs big and the Upgrade is half of that.

I wonder what is missing?

Then again, that could be the Home Edition version. It is smaller.

Hmmm, well I have tried 8 different XP SP1 versions and the all clocked in at about 125-135mb, So maybe there is something the MS does before it leaks it.

Ok I set-up an FTP on my home server...I am on cable so the download won't be blazing fast but will be around 20KBs I have all SP1 betas and some other XP software in there. If you want access pm me and I will give you the Addy and the Login/pw.

I ask that no one hammers or they will be banned and please use a FTP program not IE.

It is now build 1105-1.

Last change on SP1: It is now 1106.
It still ships on Friday.
The build number is now gone from the lower right hand corner, and has been replaced with SP1.

I sure hope this is the last change.

Bet you all think I don't know what I am talking about.

Well folks here is your latest SP1 update, the information that I have received is this... Amid all speculation of Service Pack 1 build numbers in the last 2 days, Microsoft has been busy putting the finishing touches on the truth. Until now we have had information that build 1105.1 was to be the final Package.

That now has all changed. What we know is as follows:

1105.1 was only built for some languages, indicating it might be RTM for those specific languages. 1106 was also compiled today, which then indicates that MS plans on going on with the english version. 1106 is the rtm (release to manufacturer) code, and so is 1105.1 ... they are just packaged differently. We can expect RTM for oems to be around 1110.

So that being said, if you are looking for 1106 to show up, don't hold your breath. 1106 is an internal build, not packaged for release. Although RTM, it is still being tested. make sense? You ask what then CAN we expect. Well for sure the OEM around build #1110. But if we happen to get our hands on anything else before that we'll be certain to pass it along.

I'm sure this is will cause tons of confusion but just sit tight and try and avoid speculation. It'll make all our lives simpler.

Is this SP1 the same as doing update from Microsoft.com or is it different? Cuase I already did my update from microsoft.com webpage for SP1.

It is interesting that I work in the XP SP1 section, and no one here is, including the Program Manager, aware of the later builds and we only know of 1106 as RTM.

Well the person that "gives" me info is very close to MS if you get my drift. But as you say no info is 100% right and Yes 1106 is the final build as that is the one that has been on the MS site.
