Saw this posted on a Gaming forum:

That's right ladies and gentlemen, it's finally a done deal...
As on 8:42PM Friday night Best Buy made the decision to begin selling Half-Life2.
According to the News Item on the Employee Toolkit, "Please begin selling Half-Life 2 as the street date has been removed. Again, please begin stocking and selling Half-Life 2 immediately."
Needless to say, I was the first to purchase a copy at the store I work at. This is a Corporate communication so all stores will be selling it tomorrow as long as they read that News Item...I was the first one to catch it at my store and I didn't read it until after 9:30pm Friday night. I saw at least three cases of around 12 copies/case and our goal is to put them all out the door tomorrow...should also be a good day for video card sales.
However...
after installing HL2, it auto-updates via Steam and then says that it will be available to play once it is officially released...
grrrr....
:::moons Best Buy and Valve:::
why would Best Buy corporate say it's ok to sell now if it cannot be played yet? gonna be some real dissappointed customers tomorrow...
At least CounterStrike: Source works immediately after activating...
Hopefully, Valve will flip the switch tomorrow rather than waiting until tuesday.
Edit: I realize that there was already a post re: half-life 2 availability at best buy but i felt that since best buy had now made the official decision to begin selling that it did, in fact, require it's own seperate post.

I know you can't play it till 16th, But i'm still going to try calling BB here and see if i can get a copy today :D.. Very very excited :elaugh1: :elaugh1:
