Well, I just found out that the 32bit PCI Adaptec U160 SCSI controller I bought (19160) works with Windows 2000 Pro, but not Windows 2000 Server. After about...4 hours of wondering why I could WindowsMe to work fine, but not 2k Server, which kept giving me Inaccessible Boot Errors.

No, Adaptec wants you to buy their 29160N model, which looks to be the same hardware, but with driver support for 2K Server, Advanced server, and some other things.

And its $70 more.

And no, the website I bought it from didn't say there was a problem with 2K server. I mean after all, most hardware that works with 2K pro works with 2k server right?

Gah. More delays. First a dead A7V333 board, now an incompatible SCSI card. My client will be peeved for sure ;)

Hi Player0,

Try this site for what you need?:
http://support.adaptec-de.com/support/overview/asc29160n.html

It is in German, but if you go to Windows 2000 section, you will see three downloads that should solve your problem.

Take care.........

The drivers for the 19160 and the 29160N are unified. But the drivers detect the 19160 BIOS and will not install the 29160N drivers. The 19160 drivers do not have Win2k Server support, so I am stuck.

But did order a new card this morning, $280...owwie :)

I didnt try. It would likely require moving resistors about. Since it wasnt my card, I wasnt going to try :)
